At the Digital PayExpo 2026 held on June 17 and 18 at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, OPay served as the primary sponsor, underscoring its influence in the Nigerian fintech sector. The event facilitated discussions among regulators and industry experts regarding the integration of Artificial Intelligence into the digital economy.
During his keynote, Dotun Adekunle, OPay’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer, argued that AI is essential for the next phase of African fintech growth. Adekunle urged industry stakeholders to collaborate on creating interoperable infrastructure and robust digital identity systems.
Adekunle further participated in the Merchant Payments Observatory panel, where he explored how data-driven AI insights can assist businesses in understanding customer behavior and scaling operations. On the second day, OPay hosted a panel on ethical AI leadership, featuring experts from FintechNGR, EFInA, and NIBSS to discuss maintaining consumer trust while deploying new technology.
Throughout the exhibition, OPay showcased its suite of payment solutions to conference attendees.
