The Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that President Bola Tinubu will face personal responsibility should any harm come to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, while he remains under the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi described El-Rufai as a political prisoner.
During a Thursday appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Abdullahi emphasized that the former governor requires urgent medical attention. He highlighted concerns shared by El-Rufai’s family, stating that the National Hospital had previously recommended close monitoring due to his declining health. The party contends that by denying the necessary medical care, the government is placing his life at risk.
Abdullahi reaffirmed that the ADC and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, maintain that the ultimate burden of accountability rests with President Tinubu. The party firmly characterizes El-Rufai’s current detention as an act of political imprisonment.
