Dangote Cement Advocates for Greener Construction Across Africa

Dangote Cement’s leadership is pushing for a shift toward lower carbon emissions in African construction, aligning regional growth with global sustainability goals.

Dangote Cement Plc is strengthening its focus on environmentally friendly manufacturing. Group Managing Director Arvind Pathak has encouraged producers throughout Africa to ramp up decarbonization efforts while simultaneously scaling operations to address the continent’s rising infrastructure requirements.

Pathak shared these insights following his attendance at the Global Cement and Concrete Association CEO Strategic Dialogue held in Madrid. During this event, industry leaders discussed tactics for attaining net-zero emissions while fostering sustainable development within the sector. The summit prioritized strategies such as low-carbon building materials, effective climate policies, and the implementation of advanced technologies that support green goals without hindering economic progress.

Highlighting the potential for the continent to guide sustainable industrial advancement, Pathak emphasized that the industry must integrate innovative carbon-reduction methods as it grows. The summit participants reached a consensus on accelerating decarbonization by utilizing alternative energy sources, decreasing clinker usage, and investing in localized, modern manufacturing solutions suitable for African markets.
