PSG Refuses to Pay Kylian Mbappe Nearly £50M in Unpaid Wages

French club PSG has reportedly refused to pay Kylian Mbappe nearly £50 million in unpaid wages and bonuses, despite an order from the LFP, the governing body of French professional football.

The LFP had instructed PSG to settle the outstanding amounts from Mbappe’s seven-year tenure at the club, but PSG has confirmed that they will not comply with this ruling.

Mbappe is said to have reached out to UEFA last month regarding the salary dispute.

The conflict arises from his contentious exit from Parc des Princes earlier this summer and the conditions surrounding his potential free transfer.

PSG has stated that due to the limitations of the committee’s legal scope, the case will now need to be addressed in another jurisdiction, where the club is prepared to present all relevant facts over the coming months or years.

In a letter to Mbappe’s lawyer, PSG claimed that a proposed agreement in August 2023 would have reduced his bonuses by €55 million for the 2023-24 season.

This proposal led to Mbappe’s reintegration into the team, but PSG alleges it was not finalized or submitted to the league due to a supposed verbal agreement with the club’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

The club also suggested that their refusal to pay Mbappe’s wages was part of an attempt to save a loyalty bonus promised in his 2022 contract extension.

The LFP’s legal commission mandated PSG to pay the full amount owed after Mbappe declined a mediation offer to settle the dispute.

Mbappe, who captains the French national team, joined Real Madrid earlier this summer following ongoing disputes with PSG.
