Bwala Urges Nigerians to Hold State Governors Accountable for Kidnappings

Presidential aide Daniel Bwala argues that state governors must be held accountable for rising kidnapping rates, citing mismanagement of local security funds.

Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, has asserted that state governors bear the responsibility for the rising tide of abductions within their jurisdictions. During an appearance on the Morayo Show, Bwala emphasized that the current security failures highlight significant lapses in regional governance and the management of funds designated for local development and protection.

Bwala argued that since all kidnapping incidents originate within local government areas, the chief executive of each state must be held accountable. He specifically pointed to the Safe School Initiative, a program intended to bolster educational security through measures such as perimeter fencing and early warning systems. Bwala challenged citizens to demand transparency from their governors regarding how these specific safety funds were utilized.
