Three people were killed in a shooting in the Torok community of Riyom, Plateau State, prompting local youth groups to demand urgent government intervention.

Suspected assailants have murdered three individuals in the Torok community, located in the Rim Village of Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State. The incident, which took place Wednesday evening around 7 p.m., has reignited anxiety regarding the deteriorating security climate in the region, forcing many locals to abandon their homes.

Ezekiel Zakka, David Yakubu, and Dauda Habila were identified as the victims. According to local witness Albert Tok, the attackers arrived abruptly and fired upon the residents before escaping.

The Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) has denounced the violence as savage. In a statement released by National Publicity Secretary Rwang Tengwong, the group urged security forces to track down and prosecute the culprits. The BYM criticized the recurring nature of these killings, noting that innocent citizens remain unprotected while assailants evade capture.

The organization petitioned the state and federal governments to transition from mere rhetoric to actionable security strategies, such as strengthening intelligence networks and deploying more forces to high-risk areas. Furthermore, the association encouraged the community to stay watchful and assist authorities with reliable information. The group affirmed its commitment to pursuing justice and long-term stability for the Berom people.
