Brentford midfielder Jordan Henderson recently underwent a successful surgical procedure in Kansas City after sustaining a broken arm during post-match celebrations. The injury occurred when Henderson fell awkwardly while attempting to leap over pitch-side advertising boards following England’s victory against Mexico this past Sunday. Although he did not participate in the match, the 36-year-old required immediate medical attention and was transported off the field on a stretcher while receiving oxygen.
Sharing his progress on social media, Henderson thanked the team at the Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute for their care. While the injury rules him out for the remainder of the World Cup, he plans to stay with the England squad. To prevent future incidents, manager Thomas Tuchel is expected to ban players from jumping over perimeter hoardings during fan celebrations.
This setback arrives as Tuchel manages a series of fitness concerns ahead of Saturday’s quarter-final showdown with Norway in Miami. Declan Rice, Reece James, and Marc Guehi were absent from group training on Wednesday due to various muscle and hamstring issues. Despite these concerns, there is currently no indication that the trio will miss the upcoming match.
