Lagos Police Execute Midnight Raid on Alimosho Criminal Stronghold

Lagos police raided a suspected criminal hideout near the Alimosho General Hospital on Sunday, arresting multiple suspects and burning a site reportedly used by bandits.

Nigerian police officers conducted a targeted raid on criminal hideouts situated near the Oko Filling bus stop along the LASU-Governor’s Road in Alimosho, Iyana Ipaja, during the early hours of Sunday. During the operation, authorities set fire to a large dumping ground frequently used by suspected criminals and apprehended several individuals.

The area surrounding the Alimosho General Hospital witnessed a significant security buildup, with numerous police patrol vehicles arriving from across the state. Locals reported hearing gunfire during the commotion, leading to widespread alarm throughout the community. Residents had previously alerted security forces regarding the presence of suspicious individuals at the site, citing it as a persistent safety concern.

While one local identified as Deola suggested the confrontation involved cult members, the Lagos State Police Command has yet to release a formal report. Social media footage showed heavy smoke rising from the scene as officers secured the perimeter. Although claims circulated online regarding potential shootouts and suspects resisting arrest, these reports remain unverified. Concerns have emerged among residents in nearby Idimu and Ikotun regarding potential displacement of suspects into their neighborhoods, though these fears are currently speculative.
