Mistress of Italy’s Culture Minister Secretly Films and Releases Private Conversations After Breakup
The Italian parliament has been embroiled in scandal after it was revealed that the mistress of Italy’s Culture Minister filmed herself multiple times in the chamber using a hidden camera in her glasses.
Gennaro Sangiuliano, 62, has publicly admitted to having an affair with fashion influencer Maria Rosaria Boccia, whom he parted ways with over the summer following their intense relationship.
Sangiuliano revealed that he first met Boccia at a party in Naples in May this year but ended their relationship between late July and early August.
Following the breakup, the 41-year-old Boccia has been releasing private conversations that allegedly link Sangiuliano to a corruption and misappropriation of public funds scandal.
Boccia has claimed that Sangiuliano used public funds to finance her trips, provided her with confidential information, and appointed her as a special adviser.
To support her allegations, she has shared audio recordings of phone calls with government officials, screenshots of flight tickets, and photographs of official government event programs.
Additionally, Boccia used Ray-Ban Stories sunglasses, equipped with a built-in microphone and camera, to secretly record herself in the Palazzo Montecitorio, despite the prohibition on filming in the building.
The minister has asserted that he personally covered most of Boccia’s travel expenses and denied that his ministry authorized any adviser contract for her.
He stated, “She did not have access to classified or confidential documents.”
In response, Boccia posted documents on Instagram that she claimed demonstrated her involvement in official meetings, site visits, and consultations.
In a tearful interview with Italian media on Wednesday, Sangiuliano apologized to his wife, Federica Corsini, saying, “The first person I need to apologize to, who is an exceptional person, is my wife.”
He also mentioned that he had apologized to his boss, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who, according to him, rejected his resignation letter.
