Authorities from the Kebbi State Hisbah Board apprehended 25 young people during a targeted sweep of a hotel located in the Argungu Local Government Area. The officials stated that the arrests were conducted due to suspected engagement in illicit conduct.
Sirajo Kamba, the Director of Shariah for the board, released an official statement on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi to confirm the incident. He explained that the action, which occurred on July 3, aligns with the board’s initiative to reduce social misconduct and uphold moral standards throughout the region. The group of detainees included 13 women and 12 men.
Kamba indicated that legal proceedings will follow for those implicated after a thorough investigation. He emphasized that these operations are essential for preserving public order and community decency. The agency continues to process the case as part of its ongoing duties.
