The Kwankwasiyya Movement has asserted that the scandal involving the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) is a broader issue of state transparency rather than the fault of a single person. In a Saturday statement signed by spokesperson Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, the group emphasized that the Federal Government must provide a comprehensive explanation regarding this matter.
Although the Presidency has denied the existence of the PFIPC, the movement highlighted that over ₦1 billion was included in the 2026 Appropriation Act under a similar title. This discrepancy has fueled public concern regarding how such an allocation was proposed, approved, and processed without detection. The movement questioned how forged documents could persist within the budget system for so long and whether public funds were actually dispersed.
Stressing that these inquiries are centered on national interest rather than political bias, the group stated that President Tinubu’s administration must now demonstrate its commitment to the promises of institutional reform and accountability made upon taking office. The movement warned that avoiding these questions or providing inconsistent details could severely damage public trust and Nigeria’s international reputation.
The group has officially requested that the Presidency release a detailed report regarding the origin of the budget line and the measures being implemented to prevent future irregularities. Furthermore, they urged the National Assembly and anti-corruption agencies to launch an independent investigation into the situation to ensure the public receives a truthful and timely resolution.
