Legal practitioner urges Tinubu to address mafia-like conduct in government over PFIPC scandal

Activist lawyer Maduabuchi Idam has criticized the Tinubu administration, urging an end to alleged mafia-style governance following claims involving the Chief of Staff and a fraudulent government agency.

Human rights attorney Maduabuchi Idam has called on President Bola Tinubu to eliminate what he described as mafia-like governance practices within his administration. This demand follows serious allegations involving the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and his alleged association with a fraudulent entity known as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who is currently facing legal charges for forgery and impersonation, claims to lead this non-existent organization. Adeyemi alleges that he facilitated his position through a N600 million payment, of which N400 million was reportedly directed to Gbajabiamila. Furthermore, he claims the fake agency successfully secured government budget allocations and opened accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Idam stated that if these claims are accurate, the National Assembly leadership should consider stepping down for failing to perform necessary oversight. He argued that a compliant legislature risks damaging the nation’s democratic foundations. The activist emphasized that all government expenditures must follow legal authorization and warned that any actions taken outside constitutional boundaries threaten public trust and institutional integrity.
