FUPRE Student Allegedly Kills Younger Brother Following Dispute Over Footwear

A first-year FUPRE student is on the run after allegedly stabbing his younger brother to death during a dispute over bathroom slippers in Ugbomoro, Delta State.

Residents of Ugbomoro are reeling from a tragic incident where 21-year-old Fejiro Obiere reportedly murdered his 19-year-old brother, Joseph Obiere. Both brothers were first-year students at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE) and lived together in the Uvwie Local Government Area.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, explained that a minor argument over bathroom slippers escalated into a physical altercation. Although neighbors initially intervened to stop the fighting, the siblings resumed the conflict behind their residence. During this second encounter, Fejiro allegedly used a kitchen knife to stab Joseph multiple times before fleeing the scene.

Authorities are currently searching for the suspect, who remains at large. SP Edafe suggested that the violence may have been fueled by underlying issues such as substance abuse or involvement in secret cults. Local community members have expressed shock and distress, calling for the police to apprehend the fugitive so he can face justice for the killing.
