Secondary School Student Stabbed to Death in Argument Over Wealth
O’Reilly Senior High School in Okpoi-Gonno, Accra, Ghana, is under intense scrutiny following the tragic death of final-year student Edward Borketey Sackey, who was fatally stabbed during an argument with friends on Tuesday, September 4.
This incident, which is the second student murder at the school, has raised serious concerns about student safety and the effectiveness of the school’s management. Eyewitnesses reported that a debate over which student’s father was wealthier escalated into a physical altercation. During the fight, one student reportedly used a sharp object to stab Edward multiple times.
The school is facing criticism from social media users and community members who accuse it of failing to ensure a secure environment for its students. There is widespread belief that inadequate security measures and poor management contributed to the tragic event.
As of now, the authorities at O’Reilly Senior High School have not issued an official statement regarding the incident or the concerns raised.
