President Bola Ahmed Tinubu confirmed on Friday that he specifically ordered Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to prioritize road and utility infrastructure at the 3,112-unit Renewed Hope City in Karsana. Tinubu noted that he instructed the minister to open the area for development immediately so that future residents would have proper access to their homes. The president’s remarks were delivered by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during the commissioning of the 10.5-kilometre road network in the Karsana West District of Abuja.
Tinubu emphasized that housing projects are ineffective without adequate infrastructure, criticizing past government trends of leaving contracts abandoned. He commended Wike for his efficient handling of the project, stating that the minister treats deadlines as essential duties. The newly finished arterial roads now connect Karsana West to the Outer Northern Expressway, ensuring the area is secure and accessible for families and investors.
Minister Wike noted that the site was completely inaccessible during the 2024 groundbreaking ceremony, which had previously caused concern among developers. He credited the project’s success to the federal government’s commitment to timely payments and the contractor’s adherence to the construction schedule. Looking ahead, Wike announced that construction on the Kaba-Kagini-Zaudna road is set to begin next Wednesday.
Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, highlighted that this development reflects the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda. She encouraged local residents to take responsibility for safeguarding the new infrastructure to ensure its longevity. The president also extended his appreciation to the FCT administration and Lubrik Construction Company for meeting project specifications on time.
