Married at First Sight UK participant arrested following rape investigation

A man involved in the reality show Married at First Sight UK has been arrested on suspicion of rape following a BBC investigation into participant safety.

A former participant of the television series Married at First Sight UK has been taken into custody on suspicion of rape. This arrest follows a BBC Panorama report that examined the reality program.

Authorities have not disclosed the name of the man, and the alleged victim remains anonymous as mandated by legal protections. The Panorama documentary, which aired in May, highlighted claims of rape from two former cast members, alongside a report of a non-consensual sexual act from a third individual. The men involved have firmly denied these accusations.

Metropolitan Police officials confirmed that a man in his thirties was arrested on 18 June as part of an active investigation. He has been released on bail while further inquiries take place. Following the initial broadcast, the police had urged anyone who may have been a victim of sexual assault while appearing on the show to come forward.

Channel 4 has initiated an independent review regarding the welfare of program contributors, though they have only committed to releasing a summary of the findings later this summer. The network previously withdrew episodes from its streaming platform ahead of the documentary release and has yet to confirm plans for the upcoming filmed series. CPL, the production company behind the show, maintains that its welfare protocols are of the highest standard.
