ADC Declares End to Judicial Meddling Following Court Ruling on David Mark

The African Democratic Congress has hailed a Federal High Court ruling affirming David Mark’s leadership as a victory against judicial interference and a step toward democratic stability.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has characterized the court decision confirming David Mark as the legitimate party leader as a definitive conclusion to attempts at judicial interference. This sentiment was shared in a Thursday statement by Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary.

The ADC emphasized that the ruling reinforces its stance that leadership disputes are internal matters, noting that such issues are not subject to litigation under the 2022 Electoral Act. Abdullahi confirmed that David Mark’s leadership was established in full compliance with the party’s constitution and governing laws.

Addressing current national challenges, the party highlighted the urgency of tackling insecurity, the high cost of living, and unemployment. The ADC stated that as an opposition party, its priority is offering citizens viable policy alternatives. The party views this court victory as a milestone for Nigeria’s multi-party democracy and hopes it discourages further efforts to destabilize opposition groups or establish a one-party system.

Abdullahi further expressed gratitude for the judge’s integrity, noting that the decision to fine the plaintiff and his legal counsel should serve as a warning against bringing baseless lawsuits in the future. The Federal High Court in Abuja delivered the judgment on Thursday, settling the leadership question.
