Akpabio cautions AMAC Chairman against naming federal roads after personal acquaintances

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has directed the AMAC Chairman to stop naming federal government-funded roads after personal relations without proper authorization.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has issued a formal warning to Christopher Maikalangu, the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, regarding the unauthorized naming of roads funded by the federal government. This directive was delivered during the commissioning of new infrastructure in the Gaduwa District, an event coinciding with the third-year celebrations of President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

Akpabio emphasized that local officials must adhere to official protocols before naming projects financed by the federal treasury. He noted that the entity responsible for funding infrastructure maintains the authority to oversee such designations, cautioning the chairman against using federal assets to honor personal family members or acquaintances. Minister Nyesom Wike was commended by Akpabio for his proactive stance in advising local councils to follow established administrative procedures.
