President Bola Tinubu stated that his government is focused on delivering concrete outcomes rather than simply holding office, highlighting this commitment through recent infrastructure projects in the Federal Capital Territory. Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the President officially opened the newly constructed Akinwumi Ajibola Street in Abuja’s Gaduwa District on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, Tinubu emphasized that his administration operates under the Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritizing completed work over excuses. He noted that for years, Gaduwa residents struggled with impassable roads, a situation he deemed unacceptable for a capital city. By ensuring timely payments and demanding high performance, the government has delivered roads complete with drainage and lighting to improve mobility and property values.
Tinubu commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for transforming the region’s project delivery culture and expanding development into satellite districts to ensure inclusive growth. Wike, who noted this project is part of a 31-day initiative marking three years of Tinubu’s leadership, asserted that infrastructure progress has reached districts like Jahi, Gwarimpa, and Kwali. Furthermore, Wike issued a warning to the Abuja Municipal Area Council regarding the unauthorized naming of federal government projects.
FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, reinforced the administration’s pledge to maintain this momentum in infrastructure development. The President concluded by urging citizens to take ownership of these facilities, noting that government-built infrastructure thrives when supported by local communities.
