Violent conflict between opposing youth gangs has left one individual dead and two hospitalized in Minna, Niger State. The incident occurred across the Dutsen-Kura Gwari and Fadikpe districts following months of escalating unrest and criminal activity in the area. Local citizens contacted law enforcement on Sunday night as the fighting intensified.

While community members claim police fired indiscriminately, the Niger State Police Command provided a different account. Police spokesman SP Wasiu Abiodun stated that officers from the GRA Division arrived at 11:30 p.m. on June 28 only to face gunfire from the gathered miscreants. This prompted an exchange that resulted in the death of Mohammed Mohammed and injuries to two other participants, one of whom, Ismail Shehu, suffered blade wounds.

Authorities recovered two improvised firearms from the site and confirmed that investigations are active to apprehend remaining gang members. Meanwhile, residents have urged community and security leaders to find a permanent solution to the persistent cycles of violence threatening their neighborhood.
