Frank Lebouef tips Mbappe and Kane for 2026 World Cup Golden Boot over Messi

Former Chelsea star Frank Lebouef dismisses Lionel Messi’s chances for the 2026 World Cup Golden Boot, favoring Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane instead.

Frank Lebouef, the ex-Chelsea defender, has bypassed Argentina star Lionel Messi in his predictions for the 2026 World Cup Golden Boot winner. Despite Messi currently holding the record as the top scorer in the competition with six goals, Lebouef is backing two other superstars for the honor.

Speaking to BOYLE Sports, Lebouef highlighted that the expansion of the tournament format influences his outlook. He pointed out that while he respects smaller nations, the overall scoring race could be impacted by lopsided results against underdogs like Curacao, Haiti, or Cape Verde. Consequently, he views Harry Kane of England and Kylian Mbappe of France as the primary candidates. Lebouef suggested that if both England and France advance far in the bracket, the race will likely narrow down to a duel between these two strikers.
