Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and presidential candidate, has reached out to the citizens of Lagos following the destructive flooding triggered by recent intense rainstorms. Through his Facebook account, he extended his condolences to the families, travelers, and business operators facing significant disruption to their daily routines.
Highlighting the necessity of communal support, Abubakar encouraged the public to assist those in need while hoping for a quick recovery for the affected region. Widespread rainfall starting on Sunday caused extensive water accumulation, blocking major thoroughfares and residential neighborhoods throughout Lagos.
The impact was felt across various districts including Gbagada, Lekki, Ikeja, and Ikorodu Road, where rising water levels forced commuters to navigate on foot. Furthermore, the deluge hindered aviation operations, necessitating the temporary suspension of a terminal at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
