The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that 1,565,873 citizens finished their registration during the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) process as of June 26. Of these participants, 620,933 utilized the online pre-registration platform, while 944,940 opted for in-person enrollment throughout the nation.
INEC officials clarified that these figures are currently preliminary. The data will undergo a thorough cleansing process and verification via the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) before finalization. Regional performance indicates that Kano leads the country with 118,207 new registrants, followed by Lagos at 78,360 and Delta at 76,395. Registration activities remain paused in Ekiti and Osun states to comply with the Electoral Act regarding upcoming governorship polls.
Demographic breakdowns show that women comprise 52.45 percent of the total, totaling 821,276, compared to 744,597 men. The youth demographic, specifically those aged 18 to 34, represents the largest cohort with 1,082,985 entries. Additionally, students constitute the primary occupational group with 384,093 individuals, while 18,919 Persons with Disabilities also registered. The commission encourages all eligible citizens who have not yet participated to visit official registration centers or the web portal.
