Security teams thwart bandit intrusion at NIPSS in Plateau

Guards at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) successfully drove away intruders during a late-night security breach attempt in Plateau State.

Security officers at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos South, successfully repelled an attempted breach early Tuesday. Around 1:30 a.m., staff on patrol noticed unusual activity near the institute’s border.

The guards acted immediately, causing the intruders to retreat. There were no injuries reported, and the institute is functioning as usual. This event follows a previous security concern at the location less than a fortnight ago, which led the Federal Government to mandate a full security overhaul for the facility and other key national sites.

Vice President Kashim Shettima recently visited the site, promising to bolster protection through better surveillance, stricter access rules, and a larger security presence. Authorities, including the Plateau State Police Command and Operation Enduring Peace, have yet to release a statement, and inquiries sent to NIPSS management remain unanswered.
