Four Nations Advance to 2026 World Cup Round of 16

Paraguay and Morocco join Brazil and Canada in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16 following tense penalty shootout wins over Germany and The Netherlands.

Four national teams have officially secured their spots in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16. Paraguay and Morocco are the most recent additions to the next stage following dramatic penalty shootout victories against Germany and The Netherlands.

Paraguay initially took the lead against Germany thanks to a goal from Julio Encisco, but Kai Havertz later leveled the score with a header. Germany ultimately faltered during the penalty phase, losing 3-2 after Havertz and his teammates missed their attempts.

In the other fixture, Morocco relied on a late equalizer from Issa Diop to force extra time and subsequent penalties after Cody Gakpo put The Netherlands ahead early. The Dutch team faced disappointment as Quentin Timber, Crysencio Summerville, and Justin Kluivert failed to convert their kicks, resulting in their tournament exit.

Paraguay and Morocco now advance to join Brazil and Canada, who had already earned their places in the next round of the tournament.
