Mahdi Shehu Urges Nigerian Leadership to Emulate China’s Governance and Development Model

Mahdi Shehu has challenged Nigerian officials to adopt successful governance strategies from China, arguing that current study tours have failed to produce meaningful reform in the country.

Commentator Mahdi Shehu has suggested that Nigeria’s leadership should look toward the Chinese development approach to address domestic challenges regarding stability, security, and economic growth. In a recent statement posted to social media, Shehu argued that successful nations are built through deliberate planning and strong leadership rather than accidental success. He highlighted China as a prime example of a nation that systematically turned significant obstacles into national strengths.

Shehu expressed frustration with Nigerian officials and security personnel who frequently participate in study tours to China but fail to implement effective changes upon their return. Noting that these repeated visits have yielded little practical progress for the nation, he proposed a provocative solution: inviting China to manage Nigeria for 50 years to teach local leaders how to govern effectively. He emphasized that under China’s current model, nearly any goal remains within human reach.
