Lagos Authorities Remove Illegal Structures Along Badagry Expressway

Lagos state authorities have begun clearing unauthorized shanties along the Orile-Okokomaiko axis of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway to improve sanitation and traffic flow.

The Lagos State Government has initiated an operation to dismantle unauthorized shanties and makeshift buildings situated along the Orile-Okokomaiko stretch of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. This initiative aims to improve environmental hygiene and restore urban order.

Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), announced the development via his official social media channel on Monday. A collaborative task force is currently conducting the cleanup to clear the roadway of illegal occupants.

The removal efforts are focused on temporary structures built on the expressway’s median and other forbidden areas. Government officials emphasized that the campaign is designed to bolster public safety, boost sanitation, and alleviate traffic congestion. This move underscores the administration’s dedication to upholding environmental regulations and maintaining peace across the state.
