Atiku warns of alleged scheme to disqualify ADC from 2027 polls

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar claims that allies of President Tinubu are orchestrating a plan to remove the ADC from the 2027 ballot, urging Nigerians to defend democratic fairness.

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President, has expressed alarm regarding an alleged strategy to bar the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from competing in the 2027 general elections. Through his representative, Phrank Shaibu, Abubakar asserted that associates of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are utilizing legal and political tactics to ensure the ADC is excluded from the electoral process.

Abubakar encouraged the public to resist efforts by the administration to dictate which opposition groups are allowed to run. He argued that while the ruling party aims to create instability within the opposition, the ADC remains a significant threat due to its standing as a viable alternative. According to Abubakar, the government’s focus on the ADC reveals a deep-seated fear of the party’s influence rather than genuine confidence in their own political strength.

The former candidate issued a firm warning to the All Progressives Congress (APC), suggesting that their clandestine efforts to undermine democratic participation will ultimately fail. He appealed to all citizens to protect the integrity of the electoral process, emphasizing that the decision-making power belongs to the people, not those currently in control.
