Vladimir Putin criticized the most recent round of European Union sanctions this Sunday, asserting that the Russian state possesses the necessary assets to endure the economic pressure. Speaking at the 23rd Congress of the United Russia Party in Moscow, the leader addressed an audience of delegates and political figures.
During his address, Putin criticized Ukraine for conducting what he described as deliberate strikes against non-military targets, alongside the alleged internal recruitment of individuals for sabotage. He further contended that Western nations ignore hostilities directed at Russia while continuing to implement what he termed illegal punitive measures.
The President expressed confidence in the country’s ability to withstand international pressure, citing existing resources and political resolve. European Union officials confirmed that their latest sanctions, which follow a series of 20 previous packages implemented since February 2022, will stay in force for a year. Putin suggested that this Western pressure stems from an inability to overcome Russia militarily. He concluded by reiterating that despite these hurdles, Moscow will prioritize domestic technological growth and the long-term security of its national borders.
