Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, leader of the Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development, has formally requested that Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu investigate social media personality Bello Galadanchi, widely known as Dan Bello. The petition centers on viral videos in which Dan Bello alleges that former Zamfara State Governor Senator Abdul’Aziz Abubakar Yari misappropriated N1.7 trillion in public funds.
The group asserts that these videos have severely harmed the reputations of Senator Yari, Abdullahi Abdulkarim Tsafe, and Ajap Financial Services Limited. According to the petition, the content claims these funds were diverted through Tsafe and the financial services firm. Shinkafi argues that these accusations are part of a targeted campaign intended to subject the mentioned individuals and the company to public scorn and professional harm.
The petition emphasizes that while free speech is a protected right, it must be exercised with accountability. The organization contends that the claims are unsubstantiated and violate both the Cybercrimes Act of 2015 and existing defamation statutes. They have submitted digital evidence, including the videos and social media screenshots, to support their demand for a police inquiry and potential criminal prosecution of the influencer, who is reportedly based in China.
