Catholic Bishop Mamza Criticizes Federal Government Over Insecurity

Catholic Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza has criticized the Nigerian government for its inability to effectively combat the country’s persistent security challenges.

Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza of the Yola Diocese has stated that the Nigerian government is failing to adequately address the nation’s security crisis. The former head of the Adamawa State Christian Association of Nigeria argued that leaders lack the necessary political commitment to resolve ongoing violence.

During the conclusion of the 2026 Yola Diocesan Pastoral Council, Mamza highlighted the persistent threats of kidnapping, banditry, and community violence. He noted that despite frequent government pledges, the reality on the ground remains alarming.

The bishop urged authorities to move past rhetoric and implement concrete solutions, insisting that protecting citizens is their primary duty. He also called on security services to enhance their intelligence capabilities and better support their personnel to ensure operational success.
