Alhaji Garba Maikatako, the Zamfara State Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has rejected claims that the party has lost its legal registration. He maintains that the NDC is still a fully operational and legitimate political entity.
Addressing a recent Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja, Maikatako argued that the decision holds no sway over the party’s official standing. He characterized the ruling—initiated by the Peace Movement Party—as a minor legal obstacle rather than a threat to the party’s continued existence. He noted that the NDC leadership remains committed to democratic values and the service of Nigerians.
The chairman emphasized that national party leadership, including National Leader Senator Henry Seriake Dickson and National Chairman Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, have confirmed the party’s status remains intact. He encouraged party members in Zamfara to stay focused, labeling the court outcome as a disagreement on judicial interpretation rather than a dissolution of their organization.
