Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Esa-Oke, Osun State, have dismissed claims that their campaign leadership played a role in the death of Accord Party member Ajayi Rogba. Rogba was reportedly killed by suspected thugs on a Tuesday night.
Following the incident, Governor Ademola Adeleke visited the family and suggested that APC-affiliated thugs were responsible. He also criticized Wole Oke, a local House of Representatives member, while urging the police to conduct a swift investigation.
Responding during a Friday press conference, Professor Siji Olamiju, speaking for the local APC chapter, cautioned against turning the tragedy into a political matter. He argued that linking the party or Oke to the crime without evidence is harmful to the investigation and insensitive to the victim’s relatives. Olamiju urged Governor Adeleke and other officials to refrain from making premature accusations and instead allow law enforcement to handle the case professionally. He reiterated that the APC supports a fair investigation and believes that anyone found guilty, regardless of their political ties, must be held accountable by the law.
