Military forces kill two Lakurawa militants and seize weaponry in Kebbi

Military forces under Operation FANSAN YAMMA intercepted Lakurawa insurgents in Kebbi State, killing two individuals and recovering a cache of weapons.

Soldiers from Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North-West, known as Operation FANSAN YAMMA, eliminated two suspected Lakurawa terrorists and seized various weapons in Kebbi State’s Sabarumawa area. The mission took place on June 27 after military intelligence warned of an imminent assault on the local community.

Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, the spokesperson for the task force, explained that members of the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion 7 set up an ambush along the insurgents’ likely path. When the group arrived, a heavy firefight ensued. The soldiers’ intense fire pushed the militants back, resulting in two deaths while the rest retreated into the woods.

Military personnel successfully recovered two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, over 140 rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle. Lt.-Col. Danja noted that Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains dedicated to dismantling criminal networks across the North-West and protecting civilians. He also called on the public to keep sharing reliable information to assist in ongoing security efforts.
