Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially ended the dusk-to-dawn curfew previously enforced in 10 local government areas near the Old Oyo National Park. This update was announced on Saturday by Dotun Oyelade, the state’s Commissioner for Information. The decision follows a period of heightened security maneuvers intended to secure the release of students and staff kidnapped in the Oriire region.
Residents in the impacted areas have been encouraged to return to their daily routines. The administration has emphasized that security personnel remain active in the field to address the ongoing abduction threats. Commissioner Oyelade noted that state authorities are maintaining a vigilant stance until the crisis is fully resolved. Previously, the government had implemented a 48-hour curfew starting June 24, with a subsequent 24-hour extension, covering the municipalities of Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo, and Atiba.
