Manchester United Await Update After Manuel Ugarte Stretcher Incident

Manchester United are awaiting medical updates after midfielder Manuel Ugarte was stretchered off during Uruguay’s World Cup match against Spain.

Manchester United are currently monitoring the status of Manuel Ugarte after the midfielder was removed from the field on a stretcher during Uruguay’s 1-0 World Cup loss to Spain in Guadalajara.

Ugarte sustained the injury while attempting a tackle just before Spain scored their winning goal. The 25-year-old appeared visibly distressed as he was carried away, raising concerns regarding the severity of his condition. United officials are now awaiting official word from the Uruguayan medical team to determine the next steps.

This setback complicates the club’s offseason plans. Ugarte, who joined from Paris St-Germain for 50.8 million pounds in 2024, had not played since a home loss to Leeds on April 13 and was expected to depart the club this summer as part of a midfield overhaul. While Manchester United has already secured a deal for Atalanta’s Ederson to join after the tournament, the club is currently prioritizing the health and recovery of their player.
