Mayweather versus Pacquiao Rematch Indefinitely Delayed

Representatives for Manny Pacquiao have confirmed that his rematch with Floyd Mayweather is postponed indefinitely due to ongoing financial and legal disputes involving Mayweather’s camp.

The long-awaited second meeting between boxing icons Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao has been put on hold indefinitely, according to an announcement from Pacquiao’s representatives in the Philippines on Friday. This development emerged shortly after ESPN noted that a separate Mayweather exhibition in Greece was canceled following legal action initiated by an events firm linked to the Pacquiao fight.

These two legendary fighters, who generated record-breaking pay-per-view sales during their 2015 encounter, have clashed recently over the nature of a proposed rematch. While Netflix announced a September date, Mayweather insisted the event would be an exhibition rather than a professional match, a characterization that Pacquiao strongly rejected.

Pacquiao’s team attributed the indefinite delay to a combination of legal challenges, scheduling conflicts, and financial disputes involving Mayweather’s camp. Last week, the events firm CSI filed a lawsuit against Mayweather, aiming to recoup over $4.65 million in payments for exclusive promotion rights for both the Pacquiao rematch and a separate exhibition with Mike Tyson that never occurred. Pacquiao’s camp indicated that a fight is unlikely to occur before early 2027. If the legal issues between Mayweather and CSI are resolved, promoters may look to reschedule the Tyson exhibition for September 12.

Mayweather, 49, finished his career in 2017 with an undefeated 50-0 record. His scheduled exhibition in Athens against Greek kickboxing star Mike Zambidis was also canceled due to the ongoing legal instability.
