Lagos Police Confirm Mushin Incident Was Mechanical, Not a Bomb

Lagos police state that the recent Mushin explosion was a mechanical failure, dispelling initial rumors of an IED attack.

The Lagos State Police Command has officially addressed reports regarding Monday’s explosion in the Mushin district, confirming it was a mechanical failure rather than a terrorist attack involving an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai stated that a thorough investigation by security personnel yielded no signs of explosives. Forensic experts analyzed the site and found no detonators, chemical residues, or initiation devices typically present in bomb-related incidents.

Initial reports suggest the blast was triggered by a rapid release of pressure from a mechanical part positioned near a vehicle. This surge in pressure resulted in shattered passenger-side windows, causing minor injuries to the person inside. Authorities have categorized the event as a mechanical explosion and emphasized that there is no connection to terrorism or coordinated violence. Residents are encouraged to stay calm and refrain from spreading rumors that could incite public alarm.
