Vaibhav Sooryavanshi displays the right mindset for international cricket

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could become India’s youngest international debutant, with batting coach Sitanshu Kotak praising the 15-year-old’s composure and readiness for the Ireland T20I.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stands to become the youngest international cricket debutant for India if he is chosen for the T20I match against Ireland this Friday in Belfast. India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak believes the 15-year-old possesses the necessary mental strength to succeed at the highest level.

Should Sooryavanshi play in the upcoming matches at Stormont, he would surpass the age record currently held by Sachin Tendulkar, who debuted at 16 in 1989. Kotak expressed full confidence in the teenager, who recently led the scoring charts in the IPL with 776 runs for the Rajasthan Royals and a record 65 sixes in one season.

While excitement surrounds the possibility of his selection, Kotak noted that the final decision rests with the team management. He emphasized the importance of balancing new opportunities with fairness to established players currently in the squad. Reflecting on the player’s temperament, Kotak stated that Sooryavanshi has shown no signs of anxiety when facing elite fast bowlers like Jofra Archer, maintaining a composed demeanor that suggests he is ready for the international stage.
