Adolphus Wabara, the Board of Trustees Chairman for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), recently announced that the organization has successfully resolved its internal conflicts. The party is now focusing its efforts on re-establishing its status as a major political power in time for the 2027 general elections.
This declaration came during a gathering in Abuja where party candidates, including Abia gubernatorial nominee Dr. Anthony Iheanyichukwu Ibeabuchi, were presented with their Certificates of Return. The event, held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre and led by Barrister Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, served to solidify the party’s foundation for upcoming electoral cycles.
A statement from Hon. Ikpegbu Emeka-Yellow, head of the Abia PDP Caretaker Committee, noted that several other candidates received certificates for various legislative positions. These included figures like Sunday Nmaju for the Abia North Senatorial District and numerous others vying for Federal Constituency seats, alongside twenty-one individuals seeking state assembly positions.
Dr. Ibeabuchi, a veteran in the banking sector with over 23 years of experience, was highlighted for his professional background. Emeka-Yellow emphasized that the distribution of these certificates is a key step in the party’s strategy to regain influence in both Abia State and across Nigeria. He asserted that the current unity within the party makes it a formidable contender for 2027.
Wabara encouraged party members to maintain their focus and ignore outside distractions meant to destabilize the organization. He praised the Abia caretaker leadership for their work in revitalizing the local chapter. Ultimately, he expressed confidence that the quality of the selected candidates and the renewed internal structure would lead the PDP toward a significant political comeback.
