NECO Unveils 2026 BECE Results and Sets Dates for Re-sit Exams

NECO has released the 2026 BECE results and announced re-sit examination dates for July 22 and 23 to help students qualify for senior secondary placement.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially published the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) outcomes. The release followed a productive session of the 2026 BECE Award Committee held at the council’s primary office in Minna, Niger State.

Azeez Sani, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, noted that 186,291 students sat for the assessments covering 12 subjects. These participants represented all 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory, and five nations abroad. The testing period took place from April 20 to April 30, 2026.

Dr. Folake Olatunji-David, serving as the Committee Chairperson and representing Education Minister Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, confirmed the ministry’s approval of the results. The meeting also featured participation from management staff and school principals nationwide.

Furthermore, the council scheduled a re-sit examination for Mathematics and English Studies for July 22 and 23, 2026. This window allows students who fell short in those specific subjects to correct their status, ensuring they remain eligible for transition into Senior Secondary School One (SSS1) without losing a year of study.
