Private hospitals operating within Zamfara state are under pressure to upgrade their adherence to government health guidelines. This directive aims to boost the overall standard of medical care available to the public.
During a series of inspections in the state capital, Gusau, the Zamfara State Task Force Committee on Private Health Facilities cautioned proprietors to prioritize regulatory compliance. Rilwanu Musa Zurmi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and co-chairman of the task force, spearheaded the assessment.
The task force evaluated eight specific locations: Hilal Specialist Hospital, First Care Multi Specialist Hospital, Freedom Medical Laboratory, Poly Hospital, Daula Hospital and Maternity Home, Shukura Medical Clinic, Amsaf Specialist Hospital, and Godiya Hospital. Officials scrutinized essential operational aspects, ranging from Corporate Affairs Commission registration and professional licensing to the quality of infrastructure and biomedical waste disposal. Additionally, the team checked for the presence of skilled staff, functional laboratory systems, and adequate pharmacy facilities. Mr. Zurmi emphasized that owners must rectify any observed deficiencies promptly to align with official health protocols.
