Osun Group Denounces Political Violence, Appeals for National Harmony

The Forum for Nation Builders and Social Development has criticized the surge in political violence in Osun State, calling for restraint and urging authorities to prosecute those involved in recent disturbances.

The Forum for Nation Builders and Social Development recently voiced alarm regarding the escalation of political unrest and fatalities in Osun State. In an official declaration released Wednesday, the collective characterized these violent occurrences as alarming and requested that political figures emphasize public safety and peaceful conduct.

The group emphasized that the political arena ought to be a vehicle for progress rather than a catalyst for intimidation and physical harm. Alhaji Lateef-Bakare, the group’s chairman, observed that linking political activity to aggression is a concerning trend that necessitates immediate intervention from relevant parties. He asserted that human life must never be sacrificed for political gain.

Furthermore, the organization urged political participants to show discipline and settle disputes through non-violent methods. The forum also requested that law enforcement authorities conduct unbiased investigations to hold perpetrators accountable, irrespective of their political ties. Ultimately, the group appealed to both the public and political leaders to prioritize the stability and unity of Osun State over individual interests.
