Amotekun Corps Detains Married Couple for Robbing Former Ondo Speaker’s Residence

Amotekun operatives in Ondo State have arrested a husband and wife for the burglary of former Speaker Jumoke Akindele’s home, successfully recovering all stolen high-end phones.

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, commonly known as Amotekun, has taken a couple into custody for the burglary of the Okitipupa home belonging to Jumoke Akindele, the former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly. Officers captured 28-year-old Samson Osowe and his 22-year-old wife, Ayo Oguneso, following a targeted intelligence operation.

During the arrest, authorities retrieved seven high-end mobile phones and various personal items. The suspects had planned to transport these goods to Lagos for resale via a commercial vehicle, but Amotekun intercepted the shipment. Based on the couple’s confessions, a third individual assisting with the logistics was also detained.

State Commander Adetunji Adeleye presented the suspects in Akure and confirmed the recovery of all stolen electronics. He stated that the suspects will face legal proceedings shortly, while the recovered property will be returned to Akindele under bond. The former Speaker, who noted that her home suffered damage to several windows during the break-in, praised the agency for their efficiency. Akindele highlighted this incident as evidence supporting the need for state-level policing, officially requesting that the state government honor the officers for their dedication.
