Amotekun Corps Apprehend Couple Over Burglary at Former Ondo Speaker’s Residence

Amotekun Corps has arrested a husband and wife for burgling the home of former Ondo House of Assembly Speaker, Jumoke Akindele, and recovering stolen valuables before they could be sold in Lagos.

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, commonly referred to as Amotekun, has taken a couple into custody for allegedly breaking into the Okitipupa residence of Jumoke Akindele, the former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly. Authorities successfully recovered seven stolen mobile phones and various personal belongings, preventing the suspects from transporting the loot to Lagos for sale.

The two suspects, 28-year-old Samson Osowe and his 22-year-old wife, Ayo Oguneso, were caught after officials utilized intelligence to intercept a driver attempting to move the stolen items out of Okitipupa. Additional accomplices identified through confessions are now in custody as well. Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander of Amotekun, confirmed the recovery of all stolen devices and stated that the suspects will face legal proceedings shortly.

Jumoke Akindele reported that the burglary took place on a Sunday night, noting that several windows were smashed during the intrusion. She praised the effectiveness of the Amotekun Corps, suggesting that their successful intervention supports the broader movement for state-level police forces in Nigeria. Investigations remain active as authorities continue to process the suspects.
