Soldiers from the Nigerian Army’s 1 Brigade, participating in Counter-Terrorism Operation 6, successfully recovered three individuals who had been held by terrorists in Zamfara State for three months. The rescue followed the captives’ own daring escape from the extremist enclave.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the incident occurred on the morning of June 22, 2026. Troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Bagega, Anka Local Government Area, intercepted the victims after they fled their captors. The military provided immediate support and first aid before transferring the survivors to a medical facility for care.
Currently, the rescued individuals are receiving professional medical treatment. This action highlights the broader military campaign aimed at neutralizing insurgent strongholds and liberating hostages throughout North-West Nigeria. Security forces continue to conduct active operations against criminal factions in the region.
