Burna Boy Sets Record for Most Billboard Hot 100 Entries by an African Artist

Burna Boy has surpassed Tems to become the African artist with the highest number of Billboard Hot 100 entries, reaching a total of nine songs on the prestigious chart.

Nigerian Afrobeats star Damini Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, has officially claimed the record for the most Billboard U.S. Hot 100 entries ever achieved by an African performer. By securing his ninth entry on the chart, he has overtaken his fellow countryman, Tems, to take the lead.

Previously, both artists were level with eight entries each. Burna Boy broke this tie thanks to his feature on the official FIFA World Cup anthem, Dai Dai, performed alongside Shakira. The song debuted at number 75 on the Billboard list following the pair’s live performance in Mexico. This accomplishment further solidifies Burna Boy’s historical impact, as he also stands as the first African musician to place a song on the Hot 100 for six years in a row.

His impressive list of chart appearances spans from 2021 to 2026, including tracks such as Last Last, Sitting On Top of the World, and We Pray. Beyond his chart success, the Grammy winner recently reached a career peak on Spotify, exceeding 40 million monthly listeners, and has earned several nominations for the upcoming 2026 Grammy Awards.
