Police Chief Dispatches Senior Officers and Specialized Units to Plateau After Bokkos Raid

Inspector-General Olatunji Rilwan Disu has bolstered security in Plateau State by sending tactical units and senior officers to Bokkos following a violent attack on the Kawel community.

Following the recent violent raid on the Kawel community in the Mushere District of Bokkos, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has directed AIG Dankombo Morris of Zone 4 to travel to Plateau State. This mission focuses on performing an immediate security evaluation and executing strategies to stabilize the region and deter future violence.

To bolster safety, the Inspector-General has also dispatched extra officers, including specialized tactical teams and members of the Police Mobile Force. During a meeting on Tuesday with community and traditional leaders, AIG Morris relayed the Inspector-General’s sympathies to the affected families.

Local government chairman Hon. Amalau Samuel Amalau praised the quick response while calling for a long-term security presence to protect citizens. Mrs. Hajara Yunana of the Women in Politics Initiative highlighted the severe burden placed on local families and advocated for the use of advanced surveillance technology to safeguard exposed neighborhoods.

State police spokesperson SP Alfred Alabo confirmed the department’s commitment to tracking down the perpetrators. Authorities are now urging residents to assist ongoing investigations by sharing relevant intelligence with the police. AIG Morris emphasized that the area is currently secure and encouraged citizens to resume their daily routines while maintaining vigilance.
