Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, believes the recent Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency by-election results indicate the All Progressives Congress (APC) is well-positioned for the 2027 general elections. His spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, released a statement on Sunday highlighting this perspective.
The governor noted that the impressive voter turnout and peaceful atmosphere confirm the public’s continued backing of the APC. He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a transparent process and thanked security personnel for ensuring safety during the event. According to Yusuf, this outcome bolsters faith in the national democratic system.
After congratulating the winning APC candidate, the governor encouraged him to prioritize quality representation. Yusuf asserted that the APC remains a dominant political power in Kano. Conversely, he labeled the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) a small, ineffective movement lacking a solid grassroots foundation. He suggested the party avoided the race out of fear of defeat and a lack of voter support.
Looking ahead, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to local development and ongoing service delivery. He also extended his congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC National Chairman, Prof. Nantawe Yilwatda, regarding the party’s broader successes in recent national by-elections.
