Swedish midfielder Lucas Bergvall is contemplating his future at Tottenham Hotspur as he seeks a fresh start. The 20-year-old saw restricted playing time during the closing stages of the previous season under manager Roberto de Zerbi, frequently being utilized outside of his natural defensive midfield role. Although Bergvall participated in 33 fixtures for the club last year, his progress was hampered by a two-month layoff following ankle surgery.
Tottenham is currently looking to bolster its midfield, evidenced by a failed £80m bid for Newcastle player Sandro Tonali. Consequently, Bergvall’s agents have initiated discussions with Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, though Chelsea has withdrawn from the pursuit after an initial inquiry earlier this year. Bergvall is presently representing Sweden at the World Cup, where he appeared in a 5-1 loss against the Netherlands in Houston.
